Network Roles

he Datai Network involves several key roles, each with specific responsibilities and interactions within the ecosystem:

Data Consumers

  • Role: Users who consume data provided by the network.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Deposit funds to access data services via gateways.
    • Interact with gateways to retrieve data.
    • Can raise disputes if the data or service is unsatisfactory.

Indexers

  • Role: Nodes that index and provide data to the network.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Register and stake tokens to become active participants.
    • Maintain and update indexes of data.
    • Earn rewards based on their contributions and performance.

Gateways

  • Role: Nodes that facilitate communication between data consumers and indexers.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Register and stake tokens to operate within the network.
    • Manage consumer deposits and deduct fees for services.
    • Ensure reliable data transmission and service quality.

Developers

  • Role: Individuals or entities who create projections (data queries or services) on the network.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Submit projections and stake tokens as collateral.
    • Receive rewards upon successful completion of projections.
    • Address disputes related to their projections.

Admin/Owner

  • Role: The entity responsible for overseeing the network’s operation and maintaining smart contracts.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Manage critical parameters and configurations.
    • Resolve disputes escalated to the admin level.
    • Perform upgrades and maintenance on the smart contracts.
